Bhutanese Prime Minister arrives in Sri Lanka (PICS)
Apr 09, 2015 (LBO) – The Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay arrived in Sri Lanka Thursday on an invitation extended by President Maithripala Sirisena, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During his three day official visit, Prime Minister Tobgay will hold bilateral discussions with the Sri Lankan President and also meet with Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and several other dignitaries.
President Sirisena is due to host a state banquet in honor of the visiting Premier.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe
will meet his Bhutanese counterpart at a a working luncheon on 10 April 2015.
Prime Minister Tobgay will receive a sapling of the Sacred Sri Maha Bodhi in
Anuradhapura, as a gift from Sri Lanka, to mark the 60th birth
anniversary of Jigme Singye Wangchuk, the fourth King of Bhutan.
The Bhutanese Premier will attend religious observances at Kelaniya and
Gangaramaya Temples and pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Temple of
the Sacred Tooth in Kandy.
He will also plant a tree at the Royal Botanical
Gardens at Peradeniya to commemorate his visit to Sri Lanka.
